Meclean High-Pressure Trailers, Trailerjets and Trailerpacks with SteamPLUS® steam high-pressure technology:

no PED inspection obligation and no mandatory periodic re-inspections thanks to our patented technology

What about the PED inspection obligation and high-pressure trailers?

When purchasing and operating professional steam and high-pressure cleaners, buyers are faced with complex regulations. Depending on the technical design of the burner/heat exchanger, a system falls under light regulation or under the highest European risk class (PED Category IV).

To be precise: with a working pressure above 31.25 bar, a temperature above 110 °C and a burner/heat exchanger volume of more than 2 litres, the machine legally falls into PED Category IV (the very high risk class).

Water at a working pressure of 200 bar only boils at temperatures far above 100 °C. As soon as a pipe or hose fails, that pressure drops instantly to ambient pressure (1 bar). The superheated water immediately turns into steam, expanding explosively in volume by a factor of 1,600.

With a volume of less than 2 litres, the total stored potential energy is physically limited, which removes the risk of serious accidents at the source. Above 2 litres, a rupture can have catastrophic consequences for bystanders.

For years, meclean® has addressed this in a technically smart and safe way with SteamPLUS® steam high-pressure technology. With this patented technology, only a minimal amount of water is heated at any one time. The risk is thus eliminated at the source (we call this inherent safety). As a result, meclean® machines with SteamPLUS® steam high-pressure technology fall under Article 4.3 (SEP / Sound Engineering Practice). This means no mandatory inspection prior to commissioning, no mandatory periodic re-inspection costs, and complete freedom in choosing parts.

The 3 key benefits of a meclean® high-pressure trailer/Trailerjet/Trailerpack with SteamPLUS® steam high-pressure technology at a glance

No mandatory periodic re-inspection costs

Thanks to our patented burner/heat exchanger configuration, the machine with SteamPLUS® falls under Article 4.3 SEP (Sound Engineering Practice) of the PED Directive. No mandatory inspection prior to commissioning applies and, most importantly for the owner, no mandatory 2-yearly re-inspections. This saves thousands of euros over the machine's service life.

Complete freedom in choosing parts

With traditional machines that fall under PED Category IV because of their burner/heat exchanger volume, the certification becomes void as soon as you use non-original parts. With meclean® you retain complete freedom in purchasing and maintenance: you simply use universal quality accessories (such as hoses, lances and spray guns) and parts.

Up to 500 bar of cleaning power

In the regular high-pressure mode, meclean® delivers up to a full 500 bar of cleaning power (and 250 bar in SteamPLUS® mode). You can effortlessly combine steam and hot-water weed control with heavy-duty cleaning.
